The Weeknd, Justin Bieber Win At Grammy Awards
It was a big night at the Grammy Awards last night, and while American artists like Kendrick Lamar cleaned up (with five prizes), there were some notable Canadians who took home the coveted prizes, including The Weeknd along with Justin Bieber, who won his first Grammy.
Taylor Swift and her most recent project, 1989, won for Album of the Year, while Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson and featuring Bruno Mars won for Record of the Year.
The Weeknd won two Grammy Awards prior to the live event – best R&B performance for “Earned It,” his track from the movie Fifty Shades of Grey, and best urban contemporary album for Beauty Behind the Madness. Justin Bieber, who also performed at the show, won the Grammy for best dance recording for the song “Where Are U Now.” However, the most talked about performance from last night’s event was undoubtedly Lady Gaga’s tribute to musical icon David Bowie.
