Mulder & Scully Get a Bit Ridiculous In New The X-Files Preview Scene

X-Files fans, are you ready to laugh again?

In the original run of The X-Files, Darin Morgan gained notoriety for writing four of the series’ funniest episodes: “Humbug,” “War of the Coprophages,” and “Jose Chung’s ‘From Outer Space'” as well as the instant classic episode, “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose.”

Next Monday, Morgan makes his return to The X-Files for the first time in nearly two decades with an episode he wrote and directed called “Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster.” The early word on this one is that it lives up to the reputation of Morgan’s earlier episodes and may be the best episode of the six-episode revival miniseries.

TVLine debuted a preview scene from the episode, which features Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) excitedly trying to show Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) footage of the were-monster that he attempted to shoot on his smartphone. And it seems as if Mulder doesn’t exactly have the greatest grasp on modern technology.

“Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster” also features the return of Tyler Labine and Nicole Parker-Smith reprise their roles as the stoners they previously portrayed in “War of the Coprophages,” and “Quagmire.” X-Files superfan and Silicon Valley star Kumail Nanjiani is also guest starring in the episode as an animal control officer named Pasha.

The next episode of The X-Files airs Monday, February 1 on Fox.
