Exclusive Preview | AfterShock Comics’ SuperZero # 1

Have you ever wanted to be a superhero? And if that was even a remotely possibly, what would you do to get achieve that goal?

The Harley Quinn writing team, Amanda Conner & Jimmy Palmiotti explore that idea in SuperZero, the third comic book series from the recently launched AfterShock Comics.

SuperZero follows Dru Dragowski, a 19-year old woman who has been obsessed with superheroes her entire life. She desperately wants to be a hero and escape from her mundane existence, and she won’t let reality get in the way of her dreams!

AfterShock Comics has provided CraveOnline with an exclusive preview from SuperZero # 1, with never-before-seen pages by interior artist Rafael de Latorre and colorist Marcelo Maiolo. In these pages, Dru re-imagines herself as the very Supergirl-like Paladina, an invincible champion…who definitely doesn’t understand the rules of the hero game. And even Dru’s fantasy characters know enough about her life to mock her high school education.

Here’s the cover of SuperZero # 1 by Amanda Conner, followed by the solicitation text from AfterShock:

With great power comes a bit of insanity, anxiety, and a dash of social alienation.

Have you ever fantasized about being a super hero? Well Dru Dragowski does…that’s all this nineteen-year-old, comic book obsessed, high school senior thinks about. She NEEDS to escape the normalcy of suburban life! Her plan? To become a real-life superhero by recreating the origins of her favorite comic characters! Hopefully then, she can become a hero not only for herself–but to protect everyone around her! If only that plan went just the slightest bit right…

What that description doesn’t mention is that Dru has an alternate plan to become a heroine…by using Batman’s origin as an example!

SuperZero # 1 will hit comic book stores everywhere on Wednesday, December 16.
