Fox Orders Pilot Script For Haunted

The TV development season is well under way, and Fox is looking at a new horror series for next year.

The Wrap is reporting that Fox has given a script order to Haunted, an adaptation of Bob Cramner’s book, The Demon of Brownsville Road. Haunted will take a unique approach by focusing on a single storyline per season.

For the first season, Haunted will follow a female military agent and her ex-boyfriend turned demonologist as they attempt to help a family under assault by apparent hauntings in their home. The official description of Haunted also adds that “the believer vs. nonbeliever duo, by solving the mystery of the present, will crack the mystery of their damaged past. At its core the series will explore the age-old question, ‘Is evil real?’”

Brent Bell (The Devil Inside) is slated to direct the pilot episode of Haunted, and co-write the script with Chris Morgan and Ainsley Davies. Morgan and Davies will also executive produce the show, if it is ordered to series.

Fox currently has a horror procedural series based on the Vertigo series Lucifer coming in early 2016, alongside The X-Files revival miniseries. Assuming that both of those series will be renewed could lead to three horror series simultaneously on Fox. That number goes up to four if Scream Queens is included.

Haunted will be in contention for a pilot order before contending for a slot on Fox’s fall schedule.
