First Look | The Enfield Haunting

In 1977, the Hodgson family alerted police to strange and bizarre incidents in their London home that were later reported to have been caused by The Enfield Poltergeist. Although widely debated and even debunked, the story of The Enfield Poltergeist has remained popular and it even inspired the upcoming film, The Conjuring 2.

Next month, A&E will present the North American premiere of The Enfield Haunting, a dramatization of the The Enfield Poltergeist that first aired on the British network Sky Living earlier this year. The three-part miniseries is based upon Guy Lyon Playfair’s book This House is Haunted, and it was inspired by the documentation and witness statements that were recorded at the original incidents.

The Enfield Haunting stars Timothy Spall as rookie paranormal researcher, Maurice Grosse; with Juliet Stevenson as his wife Betty; and Matthew Macfadyen as an experienced paranormal investigator named Guy Lyon Playfair, who is openly skeptical about the hauntings. The story revolves around Guy and Maurice overcoming their personal demons while attempting to help the Hodgson family free themselves from an apparently malevolent entity.

A&E will broadcast the first part of The Enfield Haunting on Friday, October 9 at 10pm.
