Netflix Sets a Premiere Date For Marvel’s Jessica Jones

Earlier this year, Marvel launched Daredevil, the first of four live-action series that will lead into The Defenders on Netflix. Now, Netflix has set a date for the second series, Jessica Jones! It’s coming to the streaming service on Friday, November 20 at 12:01am.

If you’re a casual comic book fan, then you may wonder: “who the hell is Jessica Jones?” She is a relatively recent creation by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos who starred in Alias, Marvel’s first mature readers ongoing series this century. In the Marvel Universe, Jessica Jones was a failed superheroine who struggled to put her life back together as she reinvented herself as a private investigator.

The new Jessica Jones teaser trailer plays upon Jessica’s anonymity among the more popular characters of the Marvel Universe and it even hints at her battles with alcohol; her P.I. agency, Alias Investigations; and her nemesis, whose voice can be heard at the 15 second mark.

The first season of Jessica Jones will be 13 episodes long, and it was executive produced by Melissa Rosenberg (Dexter) and Liz Friedman (Elementary).
