Ronda Rousey Will Star in a ‘Road House’ Remake

The cult classic that gave us such immortal lines as “You’re going to be my regular Saturday night thing” and “I used to fuck guys like you in prison” is coming back, and this time it’s bringing Ronda Rousey with it. The UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion has signed up to star in a reboot of Road House, taking over the role that became one of Patrick Swayze’s most iconic performances.

The original Road House starred Swayze as Dalton, a world famous bouncer hired to clean up the the Double Deuce bar, which turns into a battle zone after Dalton fires the henchmen of local crime lord and monster truck enthusiast Brad Wesley (Ben Gazzara). Eventually Sam Elliott and his amazing hair show up to help save the day, and also Swayze pulls out a dude’s larynx with his bare hands. If you haven’t seen it, the movie is cheesy as hell and actually pretty messed up. Ronda Rousey will probably be great in it (she already played a bouncer in The Expendables 3).

No director or screenwriters have been attached to the Road House remake yet, but according to Variety, Rousey pursued and received the blessing of Swayze’s widow, Lisa Niemi, before accepting the project. Production is set to begin sometime in 2016.
