Seven-year-old Isaiah Tootoosis doesn’t just love hockey – he loves acting too, and, after just 15 minutes at an audition, he was cast to play Leonardo DiCaprio’s son in his upcoming flick The Revenant.

The movie is slated to hit theatres at the end of the this year.

“We’re not that type of people to be Toddlers and Tiaras people,” his mother said to CBC News of the whirlwind 9-day shoot in LA that was also Isaiah’s first time on an airplane. Isaiah and his family live in Poundmaker First Nation. “It was crazy and really fast-paced.”

“It was so fun,” said the young boy, adding about DiCaprio, “He was real nice.”

Isaiah is the great-grandson of the late Gordon Tootoosis, a First Nations’ actor or Cree and Stoney decent. He received the Order of Canada in 2004 and died in 2011 of pneumonia.
