Has Another Band Been Confirmed For Soundwave 2016?

The official lineup might still be a couple of months away, but AJ Maddah’s over-active Twitter account has offered up another hot slice of Soundwave 2016 gossip, that this time suggesting the festival’s lineup might just feature a certain ex-Eurovision winner.

You see, when asked by one enthusiastic follower on Twitter if there’s “any chance” Finnish monster metallers and 2006 Eurovision champs Lordi will play Soundwave 16, Maddah replied with an equally enthusiastic “Yes!”

It’s hard to tell at this stage if the all-round enthusiasm will actually result in Finland’s finest scoring a coveted place on the 2016 lineup, but Maddah has been spruiking his excitement about how all things Soundwave 2016 are shaping up of late.

In fact, it looks like he’s spilled the beans about the festival lineup so far to at least one lucky member of the Soundwave “circle of trust” this week, who went on to report that “it’s gonna be an absolute ringadingding again next year”. Tell us something Simmo!

If Lordi do crack the the Soudnwave 2016 lineup, they be joining the likes of Northlane and Violent Soho as locked in acts for the festival, as well as We Are Harlot – who earlier this year responded to AJ’s tweet about their inclusion on the Soundwave 2016 lineup with a very appropriate beer emoji. Then they added this:

There’s also been a couple of other developments in the Soundwave rumour mill. It looks like, while it’s not yet confirmed, Maddah “is very close” to getting Bring Me The Horizon over here for the 2016 festival.

He’s also reiterated that we will see a “German band” on the 2016 lineup, but, again, it will not be Rammstein. Still, if you’re diligent with your Twitter research you’ll know that Maddah has already said we shouldn’t be surprised if a certain Rammstein side project found their way onto the lineup. Emigrate? Lindemann? Start taking bets now.

There’s also been a bit of back and forth between fans, the Soundwave chief and former Gallows/Pure Love frontman Frank Carter, who is now fronting new band Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes. He’s made his intentions to join the festival very clear and Maddah seems to be on board as well.

The Soundwave chief has also said “maybe” Enter Shikari have a shot at a lineup spot, he “would love” to have Kreator there (also German btws), Gerard Way won’t be back for another go and that Bullet for My Valentine will be here next year – though he didn’t specify whether that’s for a headline tour or as part of Soundwave.

Maddah also told one follower he’s currently working on “an interactive panel type concept” to introduce at the 2016 festival, perhaps similar to the interactive activities you’d find at Vans Festival.  Details of the new venture are yet to be announced so, as always, stay tuned!
