‘Dancing Man’ Gets His Groove On At Star-Studded LA Party

The internet’s famed Dancing Man — real name Sean O’Brien — has capped off a huge week of appearances with a star-studded LA party which has once again confirmed the healing powers of dance.

After being ridiculed online by a small number of people after dancing in public, O’Brien rose to fame when the internet rallied together to support him and his fun-loving vibes.

After a successful search for O’Brien and a crowdfunding campaign in his honour, the Dancing Man phenomenon was capped off by a huge dance party at Los Angeles’ Avalon nightclub over the weekend.

The party king himself, Andrew W.K., was in attendance, and even gave an inspirational party speech (below). Dance icon Moby volunteered his time to DJ at the event, while Pharrell Williams helped to spread the word.

Cassandra Fairbanks and Hope Leigh, who are largely responsible for finding and helping out O’Brien, helped organise the party along with the Dance Free Movement, hoping to raise awareness about the effects of body shaming and online bullying. The party raised $30,000 for anti-bullying charities and organisations.

O’Brien has thanked his supporters via Twitter, saying, “A last massive thanks to all those who were there last night to help make it so memorable and everyone who has supported and followed for last two months to help make it happen. So much love in the world.”

Aside from the Dance Free party, O’Brien spent last week dancing with Meghan Trainor on the Today Show, and throwing the first pitch at an LA Dodgers baseball game. Catch the highlights of O’Brien’s dance-loving party week, below.
