SXSW 2015: Exclusive ‘Rolling Papers’ Poster Premiere

The 2015 SXSW Film Festival begins next week, and CraveOnline will be there with ongoing coverage, including film reviews, exclusive interviews and music. But one thing we won’t be covering very much is marijuana, because it is – at best – tangentially related to the festivities in Austin, TX, and besides, we don’t have a marijuana section on our website.

But maybe we should: the new documentary Rolling Papers, which will have its world premiere at SXSW 2015, is all about the hard-working journalists at The Denver Post, who responded to Colorado’s legalization of recreational marijuana with an official pot section. The film stems from A Test of Wills director Mitch Dickman. Here is the official synopsis:

In today’s media landscape, the status quo can flip so abruptly that news outlets are often forced to reshape themselves. On January 1, 2014, as recreational marijuana explodes off the shelves of Colorado dispensaries, The Denver Post is learning how to tell the story. The Cannabist is the first pot section of a major newspaper and Ricardo Baca, the world’s first marijuana editor. Follow him as he sets out to report history in the making with a team of straight-laced staff writers and offbeat freelancers. Policy news, strain reviews, parenting advice and edible recipes are the new norm in the unprecedented world of pot journalism. Legalization is not just an experiment for society, but a risk for the dying industry of newspapers to hedge its bets on the Green Rush.

CraveOnline is happy to premiere the first poster from Rolling Papers, a full week before the start of SXSW 2015. Check it out below, and keep coming back to CraveOnline for more exclusive coverage of one of the biggest film and music festivals of the whole year!

Rolling Papers premieres at the SXSW Film Festival on Sunday, March 15 at 9:30pm at the Vimeo Theater.
