Viv Richards Has Recorded A Single With INXS’ Jon Farriss

In one of the less likely musical collaborations we’ve seen this week, West Indian cricketing legend Sir Viv Richards has teamed up with INXS drummer Jon Farriss.

Called Smokin’ Joe, the track sees Sir Viv channelling Barry White in a scarily sensual spoken-word cameo, with more than a little double entendre (“I love that sound of the crack of my bat,” anyone?), backed by Farriss’ cool hands on the skins.

In a statement to AAP, Farriss said, “Viv was such a charismatic and affable guy. We hit it off straight away and it wasn’t hard to recognise his love of music. Given these parallels and my desire to hear him on a track, I approached him to see if he was interested in doing something musically and thankfully he said yes.”

The video for Smokin’ Joe cuts together footage from Sir Viv’s illustrious cricket career, as well as studio footage of Farriss. Check it out below.
