Mumford & Sons To Release ‘Wilder Mind’ LP on May 5th

Your Grandpa and his friends have had a great run since they were reincarnated as suspenders-folk pop superstars, and now Mumford & Sons are prepping the follow-up to 2012’s smash hit Babel.

May 5th marks the release of Wilder Mind, a 12-track collection that reportedly marks a more electric lean than their folksy acoustic origins. The guys posted a video to Facebook ahead of the news, and strangely enough, they’re dressed in real-people clothes. Not a blacksmith, whittler or 18th century bellhop among them. We’re still holding out hope for Will Forte joining the band, however.

Have they become Kings of Leon? Hmm.

In a press release, Marcus Mumford explained the band’s next flavor direction. “Towards the end of the Babel tour, we’d always play new songs during soundchecks, and none of them featured the banjo, or a kick-drum,” he said. “We didn’t say: ‘No acoustic instruments.’ But I think all of us had this desire to shake it up. The songwriting hasn’t changed drastically; it was led more by a desire to not do the same thing again. Plus, we fell back in love with drums! It’s as simple as that.”
