Boots Premieres Trippy Desert Saga in Musical Short Film

Boots, man of many hats and projects (most prominently Beyoncé’s self-titled fifth studio album and Run the Jewels 2) has released a killer 30-minute short film titled Motorcycle Jesus on his official site. The film, which he directed, follows the desert-dwelling artist on a psychedelic and violent trip through post-apocalyptic Mojave Desert, encapsulated within five original Boots songs that actually kick some serious ass.

Contributions from RTJ’s El-P and Carla Azar of Autolux/Jack White’s touring band are included as well. The 5-song collection will be available March 5 via Atlantic/Canvasback.

In a statement, Boots explains the film’s inspiration: “This film was created out of necessity… While I’m alive—while I’m here, I want to find a way to leave my own drawings on the insides of caves. Someone will find them.” He also gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the film in a New York Times feature. Watch Motorcycle Jesus below.

A full album is expected from Boots later this year.
