Juan Mata Apologises to Manchester United Fans

Juan Mata has issued an apology to Manchester United’s fans after the club suffered yet another humiliating defeat.

A shocking defensive display from United saw them go from 1-3 up to 5-3 down against the recently promoted Leicester City, with Mata responsible for one for one of Leicester’s goals as he lost possession to Ritchie De Laet, who promptly set up Jamie Vardy.

Taking to his blog, Mata wrote: “Today it took me a long time to sit down in front of the computer in order not to miss my weekly meeting with you. I have waited a few hours before facing the white screen to try to express how I feel after the game in Leicester.

“After a whole week waiting for the match I could not imagine a Sunday like this. The way back from Leicester to Manchester on the bus seemed really long.

“I keep thinking about how we lost a game that was under control, but the thing is we were ahead, they equalised and when we tried to get advantage again we lost. It’s really tough to score three goals away and come back home with no points. On our way back to Manchester I was thinking about what had happened and felt so disappointed as all those that came with us to the stadium. Honestly, I feel very sorry that the weekend ended up for our fans in such a sad way.”

Man U’s new attacking force, bolstered by the acquisitions of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao, seemed that it would secure United the victory in the early stages of the game, as the squad went 2-0 up within the first 20 minutes. However, a determined display by Leicester, coupled with a dubious penalty awarded to Valdy, left Louis van Gaal once again faced with a club that failed to give its fans something to cheer about.

Mata (and indeed United fans) will hope that this is the last time he feels the need to apologise for his club’s performance.
