The Black Keys To Headline Bluesfest 2015

The Byron Bay Bluesfest 2015 lineup has just been announced, along with the news that return visitors and Australian tour favourites, The Black Keys, will be headlining the April festival.

The Black Keys first performed at Bluesfest nine years ago and have since been regular visitors to Australian shores. They last toured in 2012 on the back of their Grammy Award winning album El Camino. This will be their first turn in Australian since the release of latest record Turn Blue, after having teased an early 2015 Australian tour in May this year.

Also featured on the Bluesfest 2015 lineup are are Alabama Shakes, who will be making their Bluesfest debut, and three-time Grammy winning country-rock outfit Zac Brown Band, who will follow up their 2013 Bluesfest set with tracks from their latest release, The Grohl Sessions Vol. 1, produced by Dave Grohl himself. 

Featured Australian acts include, Paul Kelly who will be bringing his Merri Soul Sessions to life onstage, with the help of Dan Sultan, Kira Puru, and Vika & Linda Bull. Plus Xavier Rudd‘s showcase, The United Nations, will feature musicians from all over the world.

Also named on the first Bluesfest lineup are Band Of Skulls, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Beth Hart and the folks at “Rockwiz” who will continue their traditional Bluesfest live show. New Orleans musician Trombone Shorty will also play, and George Clinton, who will introduce all 22 members of his Parliament-Funkadelic crew to Byron audiences.

Bluesfest is held over the Easter long weekend at the Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm just north of Byron Bay. Another series of announcements is expected to be rolled out in the lead-up to the festival’s 26th instalment which will take place from Thursday, 2nd April until Monday, 6th April 2015.
