Joey Barton and Benayoun Come to Twitter Blows Over Palestine and Israel

Joey Barton has waded into the Israel/Palestine debate, and his comments have angered his former Queens Park Rangers teammate Yossi Benayoun.

Barton made his thoughts on Israel’s continued attacks on the Palestinian people known via his official Twitter account, writing: “The attack on the school in Beit Hanoun is deplorable. #StopKillingChildrenInGaza.”

He continued: “If this was anybody else but Israel the West would intervene. It cannot continue. Innocent children being slaughtered. This must stop.”

Taking umbrage at Barton’s comments, Benayoun replied: “mate things can never changed you have been stupid and you will stay stupid all your life..embarrassing.”

Never one to back down from conflict, Barton responded to Benayoun’s tweet, writing: “Firstly, you cannot call somebody stupid with such bad grammar. Secondly, you cannot and should not kill innocent children. Thirdly, you cannot remove people from their land because a fictional book from thousands of years ago tells you can.

“Last but not least, I hope you and your family are safe and well and remain so through this terrible time. xx”

Barton went on to continue his tirade, with him focusing upon organised religion as the cause of the conflict, adding: “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is impotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.

“Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”

Poignant cod-philosophy as per usual, Joey.
