Nine Inch Nails Tell Aussie Fans To Expect “More Aggressive” Shows

Trent Reznor is warning Australian fans to expect a new, more aggressive show when the Nine Inch Nails head Down Under for next month’s massive tour.

It has been five years since Nine Inch Nails toured Australia, but their long-awaited return is right around the corner in the form of March’s double headliner tour with Queens Of The Stone Age.

Frontman Reznor told Triple J on Monday that loyal Aussie fans are in for a new type of Nine Inch Nails set when both bands kick off their eight-stop tour in Sydney on March 6.

“We’re down to a four piece band; we’re playing different music that we haven’t played in a while. It’s got a different feel now. It’s a more aggressive show.”

The headliner for each leg of the tour will be decided by a flip of the coin and Reznor said there will be a lot of variation between shows.

“To keep it fresh every night, it’s going to be a pretty radically different set. It feels much less rehearsed. I want to make sure that I always stay in a state of feeling a little uncomfortable and a little unsure – so it pushes me to try something new and not rest on laurels and feel too comfortable.”

On their return to Australia:

“We’ve been looking forward to playing Australia since we got the band back together, and the fact that our schedules lined up and they were into it, and we have a chance to play with our friends Queens Of The Stone Age, it’s a no brainer, we’re super excited to do it.”

Reznor hinted to Rolling Stone in late January that the band are looking at (Australian) spring 2014 to release new material amidst a heavy touring schedule.
