Xbox One Has Already Nearly Outsold the Wii U’s Lifetime Sales in UK

It’s official, the Xbox One has sold 150,000 units in the UK, making it twice as successful as the Xbox 360 was in the same period of time.

This follows the news that Microsoft’s new console has already sold well over one million units worldwide, propelling it into record books.

A source has told MCV.UK that the 150,000 figure is “just a few thousand units short of beating the Wii U’s total UK sales accrued since its release a year ago this week”.

The Wii U currently stands at around 4 million units sold worldwide making it possible that the Xbox One can eclipse its total sales over 12 months in a fraction of that time. Then again, the Wii U’s improved library and new bundles make it an attractive option this holiday season.

The UK has been one of Microsoft’s most challenging territories, but it’s made efforts to improve its presence in Europe. We’ll have to wait and see if that pays off.
