Big Day Out To Announce A Second Lineup Next Month

The Big Day Out dropped a massive 32 act lineup earlier this week, but one of Australia’s top summer music festivals doesn’t intend to stop there- a second lineup announcement is expected next month.

Festival CEO Adam Zammit confirmed in a Twitter response on Friday saying.

Co-headlining are Arcade Fire, Blur and Pearl Jam and another 10 plus acts are expected to join the summer 2014 lineup, however Big Day Out chief Ken West says don’t expect anymore “massive” additions.

“If you’re not going to go to the show on this lineup then a small breaking band isn’t going to change your mood,” West told FasterLouder.

“So we’re holding off on the 50 acts that are pushing and saying ‘choose me!’ … We’ve really only got a finite number of spots left and a lot of things will happen over the next three months musically. If you shut your booking process seven months out then everything beyond that is excluded. If we’re going to be serious curators of an event, especially on the fresher stuff.”

West also said a number of metal acts will feature in the second announcement with the likes of Dethklok and Metalocalypse being mentioned as possible candidates to fill out the roster.
