Byron Bay Bluesfest Promises ‘Enormous’ Lineup

The Byron Bay Bluesfest will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year and is set to announce an “enormous” lineup “very soon”.

The festival’s official website teased fans with a mysterious announcement this week, saying the 2014 lineup “will be the earliest announcement in the history of Bluesfest”.

2013’s announcement came in September last year, but due to already high ticket sales the 25th anniversary announcement could come before the end of August.

Early bird tickets to 2014’s instalment went on sale in June and the festival has almost sold out of full 5 Day Season Tickets, just months after capacity crowds of 17,000 (85,000 in total) attended April’s event.

FasterLouder recently predicted the likes of Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, The Black Keys, Black Crowes, Steve Earle, Willie Nelson, and Gary Clark Jnr as possible features next April after this year’s lineup featured Paul Simon, Robert Plant, Ben Harper, Santana, Iggy and The Stooges, Steve Miller Band, Wilco, Jason Mraz, The Cat Empire and Ben Howard.

The 2013 Bluesfest was awarded with the Helpmann award for Australia’s Best Contemporary Music Festival, the first time the festival had achieved the honour in seven years.
