Reacher Season 4 comes very close to global annihilation

Reacher Season 4 Episode 7, “Vote for Sampson,” unveils the full scope of Operation Mongoose and its devastating chemical weapon. The penultimate episode resolves nearly every lingering mystery while setting up an action-packed finale.

After the 1995 Tokyo Sarin subway attacks, the CIA contracted DARPA to create chemical weapons of mass destruction. The goal was to reverse-engineer these weapons and develop antidotes against future terrorist threats.

Washington could not run this illegal project on American soil, so it struck a deal with General Putra. The U.S. built a secret chemical weapons lab in Indonesia’s jungles in exchange for Delta Force training Putra’s troops. Soldiers like Sampson were told the lab researched a malaria cure, while only Cahill knew the truth.

Lila and Amisha obtain the weapon’s formula through a photograph on Anna Merrick’s USB drive. Amisha originally took the photograph and waited decades for technology to catch up with her plan. AI enhancement eventually made a whiteboard in the background legible, revealing the weapon’s full chemical composition.

The weapon derives from a plant native to Indonesia, and Lila carries its seeds inside her bracelet. Only a few commonplace chemistry items are needed alongside those seeds to synthesize the compound.

Amisha and Lila test a working prototype on a kidnapped drug addict and confirm its lethal effectiveness. They then greenlight their in-house chemist to mass-produce the substance for a planned dark web auction. When aerosolized, the weapon hangs like fog and drifts wherever air carries it.

Ahlquist reveals it can kill everyone within a ten-block radius in mere seconds. DARPA never created an antidote because Putra discovered Operation Mongoose’s true purpose and stole the weapon first. He then used it to slaughter an entire village, and the U.S. government buried the evidence.

Lila and Amisha auction the formula online and recruit Tomas Waberi from Djibouti as a suicide bomber. They target Sampson’s fundraiser because Amisha watched him kill Putra during the cover-up operation.

The Season 4 finale, Episode 8, “Cut,” premieres on Amazon Prime Video on September 16, 2026.
