A new Avengers: Doomsday rumor hints at a darker ending than Infinity War. The reported twist could wipe out nearly every major hero before Secret Wars begins. While nothing has been confirmed by Marvel Studios, the claim has fueled major discussion online. Fans are now debating whether the MCU is preparing its most shocking cliffhanger yet or simply setting up another fake-out.
Avengers: Doomsday rumored to have an even bigger death count than Infinity War
A fresh claim from scooper MyTimeToShineHello has sparked intense debate across the Marvel fandom. The insider wrote that fans are focusing too much on reports about Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine dying.
Instead, the post claimed, “All the characters die in Doomsday! And come back in Secret Wars.” The scooper added that the real issue is Tobey and Hugh allegedly dying early and missing most of the movie, calling that decision “a stupid idea.” As with all leaks, the information remains unverified.
The rumor quickly divided fans. Some questioned whether Maguire and Jackman are even in the film, while others pointed to Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Wars comics as possible inspiration. Several fans suggested Doctor Doom, Doctor Strange, and Reed Richards could survive to rebuild reality. Others say that Marvel has repeatedly reversed major deaths, making them skeptical that the studio would permanently sideline beloved heroes so early.
Marvel has officially confirmed a massive cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Vanessa Kirby, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, Channing Tatum, and many more. Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom, while Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026.
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have earlier told Collider that production is being handled under tight security to prevent spoilers. Joe Russo said the team is “pretty good about shutting that down,” while Anthony noted they even selected locations with secrecy in mind.
