Finals MVP Jalen Brunson has yet to decide whether the Knicks will visit White House following Donald Trump’s invitation. The NBA champions’ potential visit to the president is a hot topic as team owner James Dolan has reportedly accepted the invitation.
Knicks star Jalen Brunson reacts to Donald Trump’s White House invite
The long-time friend of President Donald Trump, Dolan, says the team has accepted Trump’s invitation to White House. However, Brunson says the team has yet to decide on the visit.
Speaking to the reports, Brunson said: “We haven’t discussed it, but as a team, we’ll discuss it, and we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.”
Dolan, on the other hand, spoke, “We just received an invitation from the White House, which we accepted. We still have to figure out the details, et cetera, but yes, of course.” According to reports, he said, “Look, I invited the president to come down for the game. He is a friend. I’ve known him for 30 years, and I’m very proud to bring the team to the White House.”
While the Knicks’ owner has mentioned the invitation, many team players have yet to comment publicly about their invitation. With Brunson’s comment on the lack of discussion regarding the invitation has been a mixed response.
Trump became the first sitting president to attend an NBA final game when he joined Dolan. He was booed when he appeared on the Jumbotron, and that night the Knicks lost to the San Antonio Spurs with their 13-match winning streak.
The team’s visit to White House has sparked an online debate, especially after the history of champions deciding on the invitation. Brunson suggests that the NBA champions still might be weighing the decision to accept the invite.
