President Donald Trump praised the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, saying that it already looks perfect, even as renovations continue on the historic site.
The Reflecting Pool, one of Washington, D.C.’s most recognizable landmarks, has undergone several restoration efforts over the years to address maintenance issues and preserve the historic site. The latest project is aimed at improving the area while maintaining the landmark’s historic character.
The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is once again the center of discussion after Donald Trump’s “perfect” comment
President Donald Trump said that the Pool looked “perfect already,” though restoration work continues to manage a series of mishaps. The POTUS addressed a gathering at the Great American State Fair, saying, “In fact, I looked at it just a little while ago. It looks perfect already, but we’re fixing it.”
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers told People in a statement on June 25 that the pool is now “crystal clear and reflecting perfectly,” in the aftermath of weeks of criticism around the restoration.
He heaped praises on the president, saying, “President Trump generously spearheaded the restoration of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool – which has been plagued with algae and leaked 16 million gallons of water per year – to permanently fix the botched Obama ‘repairs,’” adding, “Now that the long-awaited nanobubblers have been installed, the Reflecting Pool is crystal clear and is reflecting perfectly. Thank you, President Trump!”
The Reflecting Pool has recently undergone expensive renovations as it surfaced with “American Flag Blue” coating to mark America’s 250th Independence Day celebrations. However, within days of reopening, the pool became engulfed in a massive algae bloom, while sections of the newly installed liner began peeling away. The president attributed the damage to vandalism on-site, where outsiders allegedly had poured chemicals, slashed the liner, and made a lengthy gash into the surface.
