Marvel’s X-Men reboot may already be closing in on another major casting choice. A new rumor claims a rising Hollywood star is being considered for a role in the mutant film. Marvel Studios has not confirmed anything yet, but the latest rumor has sparked fresh discussion among fans as the studio slowly assembles its new generation of X-Men characters.
Charles Melton rumored to be eyed for Beast in X-Men reboot
The rumor train started rolling when scooper MyTimeToShineHello claimed to have heard that Charles Melton is already in talks to join Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot, though no specific character was mentioned.
Not long after, well-known insider Jeff Sneider added, suggesting that Melton could be eyed for the role of Dr. Henry Philip “Hank” McCoy, better known to fans as Beast.
Marvel Studios has remained silent on the reports, and no official casting announcements have been made. The upcoming film will be directed by Jake Schreier, who previously helmed Thunderbolts for Marvel. The project is expected to arrive after Avengers: Secret Wars and will serve as a complete restart for the mutant saga, separate from the Fox-produced films.
Charles Melton first broke through with fans as Reggie Mantle on Riverdale, but his career hit another gear after May December. Starring alongside Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore in Todd Haynes’ drama, Melton delivered a performance that put him firmly on Hollywood’s radar.
The role earned him a Golden Globe nomination and a wave of praise from critics. He also picked up major honors from groups like the New York Film Critics Circle and the National Society of Film Critics.
More recently, the 35-year-old had a role in Alex Garland’s war drama Warfare and a spot in the second season of Netflix’s Beef, where he shared the screen with Oscar Isaac. Melton already has a couple more intriguing projects lined up, including Love Child with Elizabeth Olsen and Saturn Return.
