Trespass leaves Netflix in June
Trespass is set to leave Netflix later this month. According to What’s on Netflix, the Nicolas Cage-led crime thriller will be removed from the streaming platform on June 17, giving subscribers a limited amount of time to watch the film.
Released in 2011, Trespass is a crime thriller directed by Joel Schumacher from a screenplay by Karl Gajdusek. The film stars Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman in the lead roles and centers on a wealthy family whose comfortable life is upended by a violent hostage situation.
The story follows Kyle and Sarah Miller, a married couple living in a luxurious, high-security home with their teenage daughter. Their lives take a dramatic turn when a group of armed criminals disguised as police officers breaks into the property in search of money and valuables. As the criminals take control of the residence, Kyle attempts to negotiate with them while trying to keep his family safe.
Throughout the night, details about the robbers and their motives gradually emerge. At the same time, personal issues within the Miller family become increasingly apparent as the situation inside the house grows more complicated. Alongside Cage and Kidman, the film features Ben Mendelsohn as Elias, Cam Gigandet as Jonah, Liana Liberato as Avery Miller, and Jordana Spiro as Petal.
Critical reception for the film was largely unfavorable. On Rotten Tomatoes, Trespass holds a 9 percent critics score based on 76 reviews. The audience response was only slightly stronger, with the film currently holding a 22 percent audience rating on the platform.
