The Last Druid gets cast and filming updates

Production on The Last Druid is officially moving forward, with several new cast additions now confirmed ahead of filming. According to Deadline, Rose Leslie, Andreas Pietschmann, and Daniel Zovatto have joined the historical action drama alongside Russell Crowe. As of now, information regarding their roles in the movie has not been announced.

The report also confirmed that cameras are expected to begin rolling on June 8, 2026, across Barcelona and the Canary Islands in Spain. Meanwhile, the project marks another return to the historical genre for Crowe years after his performance in Gladiator.

The project is set during the expansion of the Roman Empire and focuses on a hidden Celtic community living far from imperial control. Crowe plays a Druid elder whose secluded way of life is shattered after Roman forces discover the settlement’s existence. As tensions rise, his character is drawn into a violent struggle to prevent the destruction of his people.

The film is being directed by William Eubank, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Phil Gawthorne and Carlyle Eubank. Producing duties are being handled by Adrián Guerra, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, and Ben Pugh. Meanwhile, executive producers attached to the project include Núria Valls, Xavier Parache, AJ Bourscheid, Brandon Millan, Sam Wasson, George Hsieh, and Stuart Ford.

The film was initially announced in 2024 when Crowe officially signed onto the project. Although no release window has been confirmed so far, more announcements are expected once production begins next month.
