Supergirl Gets a Big Change Ahead of Release — Report

A new rumor has surfaced, shedding light on Supergirl‘s story ahead of its release. It suggests that the film’s ending has been changed from the original. Launching this summer, the upcoming DCU installment will follow Superman’s more cynical cousin. She was introduced in the former’s eponymous movie that was released last year.

Supergirl rumored to have different ending

Notable scooper, Cryptic HD Quality, shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Supergirl now has a different ending from what was originally filmed. The insider also said that they knew what happened in it after a fan asked but didn’t want to divulge any information. They further clarified, “Not that it’s a bad thing lol. I just don’t feel like spoiling the film.”

Recently, fellow scooper, MyTimetoShineHello, reported that Superman’s role in the film was beefed up following test screenings and that additional scenes featuring him were added. They also claimed that he facetimes Kara Zor-El and shows up in the ending, backing Cryptic HD Quality’s claims of a different conclusion.

Last month, scooper AxelTalksFilm shared a rumor suggesting that Superman would only have three scenes in the movie. They stressed that these would be instrumental in Supergirl’s character development. Cryptic HD Quality backed the claims but said that Clark Kent/Kal-El would only show up physically once.

Supergirl soars into theaters on June 26, 2026, with a new trailer expected to be released soon.

The story reportedly takes place between Superman and the upcoming Man of Tomorrow and adapts Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic. In the film, Kara celebrates her 23rd birthday by traveling across the galaxy with Krypto.

During her journey, she meets a young girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll. This leads to a revenge-fueled quest that sees Kara confronting foes like Krem of the Yellow Hills and Lobo. Craig Gillespie directed the movie from Ana Nogueira’s screenplay. Meanwhile, DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran produced it.

Milly Alcock stars as the titular protagonist. She leads a supporting cast that includes Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, Jason Momoa, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, Ferdinand Kingsley, and Diarmaid Murtagh.
