The online release date for the first trailer for Scary Movie 6 has reportedly been revealed, fueling anticipation for the upcoming parody movie. Hitting theaters this summer, the film comes 13 years after the previous installment of the franchise, Scary Movie 5. It features the fan-favorite cast from the initial movies returning to the big screen.
Scary Movie 6 trailer’s online release date possibly revealed
According to notable industry insider, Daniel RPK, Scary Movie 6‘s trailer will reportedly be released online on Monday, March 2, 2026. The footage is currently playing in theaters in front of Scream 7. The film hits theaters on June 12, 2026.
Plot details for the upcoming film are unknown. However, franchise star Marlon Wayans suggested in a ComicBook interview that the film could parody Get Out, Longlegs, Nope, Heretic, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream, and Oscar-nominated Sinners.
Later, Dread Central reported that the film will reportedly parody the indie horror movie, Terrifier 3. Felissa Rose, who appeared in Terrifier 2, will appear in a sequence that gives a nod to the film: a popular mall Santa scene in which Art the Clown blows up some children.
This sequence was initially reportedly cut. However, a truncated version was later reinstated. The outlet also reported that the movie would parody Sinners, Zach Cregger’s Weapons, and John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last year, Wayans teased what fans can expect from the film. He promised a “no holds barred and equal opportunity offenders” experience. He added that this was how all the films presented themselves. Wayans further stated, “We just want to make everybody laugh, and we don’t care if you’re sensitive. Even sensitive people need to laugh at themselves.”
Michael Tiddes, known for his helming A Haunted House and its sequel, directed the movie. Meanwhile, Wayans and his brothers, Shawn and Keenen Ivory, as well as Rick Alvarez, co-wrote the screenplay.
Marlon and Shawn Wayans reprise their roles as Shorty Meeks and Ray Wilkins from the first two Scary Movie movies. Also reprising their roles from previous films are Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell, Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks, Jon Abrahams as Bobby Prinze, Lochlyn Munro as Greg Phillippe, and Dave Sheridan as Doofy Gilmore.
