M. Night Shyamalan’s most recent thriller is drawing fresh attention after landing on Netflix’s global rankings.

FlixPatrol shows that Trap reached the platform’s worldwide Top 10 as of January 26, 2026, showing the notable rise for the film following its theatrical run. The title has performed especially well in several countries. It has topped the charts in Canada and secured second place in both the Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago.

Set in Philadelphia, Trap follows Cooper, a firefighter and devoted father who takes his teenage daughter Riley to a packed concert by pop star Lady Raven as a reward for her strong grades. The night grows tense when he notices a heavy police presence inside the venue and learns that officers believe a serial killer known as “The Butcher” is somewhere in the audience, with the building sealed off.

As the performance continues, Cooper quietly searches for a way to escape without exposing himself. Meanwhile, his daughter grows uneasy about his erratic behavior. The cast members include Josh Hartnett as Cooper, Ariel Donoghue as Riley, Saleka Night Shyamalan as Lady Raven, Alison Pill as Rachel, and Hayley Mills as Dr. Josephine Grant, among others.

Upon release, Trap received divided reactions from critics and audiences. The movie currently holds a 56 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. Meanwhile, viewers awarded it a higher 64 percent audience rating on Popcornmeter.

Despite the mixed reactions, the thriller proved commercially solid, earning roughly $83 million worldwide. Box Office Mojo reports that the film collected about $42 million domestically and close to $40 million from international markets.

Its recent rise on Netflix suggests that Trap is now reaching a broader audience through streaming.
