With Elizabeth and Nathan‘s romance continuing to blossom in When Calls the Heart Season 13, actress Erin Krakow has addressed Charlotte’s take on their relationship. In a recent interview, the 41-year-old actor shed light on the dynamics between her character’s new boyfriend and the mother of her dead husband, stating that the duo will try to find common ground in the latest installment of the Hallmark TV series.

During her conversation with PEOPLE, Krakow was asked about how things would unfold now that Nathan would be living with Charlotte in Cape Fullerton. In response, the Army Wives alum revealed that When Calls the Heart Season 13 won’t see Charlotte confront either Elizabeth or Nathan about their romance.
“They’re getting along pretty well, actually,” Krakow said of Nathan and Charlotte’s dynamics in the show. “We kind of skip over any of the truly awkward bits of like, ‘Hi, mother-in-law. This is my new boyfriend.’ We’re not really seeing that part. But we see that Nathan is working overtime to impress Charlotte. She has him doing this to-do list around the boarding house at the beginning of the first episode, and he’s trying his best to impress her.”
Krakow further teased that When Calls the Heart Season 13 will showcase several heartwarming scenes between Nathan and Charlotte, with one episode even centering around Elizabeth’s late husband, Jack Thornton.
“It’s a really nice dynamic, and we see that play out, not just in the season premiere, but in an episode later this season, when Charlotte returns to Hope Valley,” she noted before adding, “It’s an episode that is going to be so meaningful to the fans. It’s full of stories and memories of Jack Sr., and there are a lot of easter eggs in that episode.”
When Calls the Heart Season 13 has already premiered its first episode, with remaining chapters set to air on the Hallmark Channel every other Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
