The story follows Jack Torrance, a struggling writer. He accepts a winter caretaker position at the remote Overlook Hotel in Colorado. Jack relocates to the isolated property with his wife Wendy and young son Danny, intending to use the quiet months to focus on his work.
As winter sets in and the hotel becomes completely cut off from the outside world, unsettling events begin to unfold. Danny, who possesses a psychic ability, experiences disturbing visions related to the hotel’s violent past.
