New Comedy Movies Coming Out in 2017

Comedies have been almost on the brink of extinction in the last couple of years, at least good ones, so we had our eyes peeled on the horizon awaiting some new comedy movies that could deliver us some genuine laughs. 2017 doesn’t seem to be the year of comedies, but at least there are no new Hunger Games movies also, and there are still some really promising titles in the making waiting out throughout the year. Add these comedy movies to your watchlist and hopefully, thank us at the end of the year.

Perhaps one of them can crack the top ten comedies of the century list.

The LEGO Batman Movie (February 10, 2017)

The LEGO movies are those great animation projects that appeal to both kids and adults, and with the sheer volume of comedic talent in it, the Batman movie has it just has to be a home-run. Will Arnett will be reprising his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne from The Lego Movie, and will be helped by Michael Cera, Zach Galifianakis, Conan O’Brien, Jenny Slate, Jason Mantzoukas, Eddie Izzard, and Doug Benson! It’s hard to recall a bigger ensemble cast of comedians on a single project, therefore the expectations are definitely high, yet we’re not afraid they will be let down.

Baywatch (May 26, 2017)

The first mentioning of a Baywatch movie got us rolling our eyes in slow motion as somebody decided to make a two-hour version of a show that capitalized on puberty, but after the casting and the first teasers were released, we’re on board. Both Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Zac Efron are proven in the comedy genre, both are charismatic and it seems like they developed a genuine chemistry, typical for buddy cop movies. Director Seth Gordon did the first Horrible Bosses movie, so he has experience in the genre and also in working with a big cast, that Baywatch also has.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle (October 6, 2017)

The first Kingsman is one of the few new funny movies that was both critically acclaimed and loved by the audiences, so it’s not shocking that we’re getting a sequel to the 2015 surprise hit. All the cast members which survived the evil plan from the first movie are coming back for the sequel, and they’ll be reinforced by proven comedic actors Jeff Bridges and Channing Tatum. Obviously, the plot is moving to the United States, and the intriguing posters released for the movie really juked up the expectations of the movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5, 2017)

The world went crazy about the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, and while it’s also a sci-fi action movie, it’s a comedy first and foremost. Even if you didn’t like the first movie the sheer appearance of baby Groot should be enough for you to get excited about the new one. Every major character is a comedic treasure and almost all of them in a different way, so buckle in for a space adventure that will probably be the most entertaining movie of the summer. Comedies and big casts are obviously a thing now, and Guardians really have some proven and unlikely comedians amongst the credited cast.

CHIPS (March 24, 2017)

We don’t recommend being too high brow when it comes to comedy as the straight-up, no-nonsense and somewhat goofy ones deliver way more laughs than the serious, brooding, grim “comedies”. Dax Shepard directs and stars in the forced, sort off, police partners movie along with Michael Peña, who proved he has a solid funny line in 30 Minutes or Less. Shepard and Peña are California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers so a lot of action can be expected in this one, along with a pretty juvenile, but pretty funny humor, homaging the ’70s show.

What are some of the new comedy movies that you’re looking forward to in 2017?
