Rapid Reviews | Will You Be Split On M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Split?’

M. Night Shyamalan likes to twist and he likes to turn, but sometimes it’s hard to tell whether he’s coming or going. He’s had enormous hit films like The Sixth SenseUnbreakable and Signs but the exact same formula that worked so well in those movies didn’t do wonders for The HappeningThe Village or Lady in the Water.

So with every new M. Night Shyamalan film comes split expectations. The question is, will audiences be split on Split? The director’s new thriller stars James McAvoy as a kidnapper with multiple personalities, some of whom want to harm his victims and some of whom might be able to rescue them from danger. It’s a showy role for McAvoy and a high concept that might be right up M. Night Shyamaln’s alley or could be too troublesome for its own good.

Split a tricky film and it may be hard to make up your mind about it. Fortunately, that’s why we have William Bibbiani on Rapid Reviews, the web series where he breaks down all the latest films in just sixty seconds or less, because you’re busy and you need answers now.
