Exclusive Preview | ‘Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers’ 2016 Annual

2016 has been the year of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers! Boom! Studios’ comic book revival of the original Power Rangers has been an unexpected hit, and it’s already led to a spinoff miniseries for the Pink Ranger. And we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see more spinoffs in the future.

This week, Boom! is releasing the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers 2016 Annual, a special 40 page comic that brings together several established veteran comic creators with up-and-coming writers and artists for one of the most intriguing Power Rangers comics of the year. And CraveOnline has an exclusive preview of two of the stories from the annual!

First up are three pages from “A Spot of Trouble,” by writer Marguerite Bennett and artist Huang Danlan. In this story, Trini Kwan the Yellow Ranger is joined by her friend and fellow Power Ranger, Kimberly Hart for a charity event that quickly becomes the staging ground for an otherworldly attack. And soon enough, there’s only going to be one Ranger standing!

Next up, writer and artist Jorge Corona tells the story of “What Makes a Ranger,” with an assist by colorist Gabriel Cassata. These pages find the Rangers engaged in a Zord battle as a young fan gets a little bit too close to the action.

And just to cap it off, here the covers by Goñi Montes, Richard Chang, and George Caltsoudas.

Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers 2016 Annual is out today in comic book stores everywhere.
