The 15 Best Supervillains Who Haven’t Been in a Movie Yet

It’s been nearly 100 years since the first superhero movie (The Mark of Zorro, as nearly as I can tell, which came out in 1920), but the genre has really bloomed in the last few decades. Dozens of hit films, interwoven franchises and yes, a handful of outright bombs have been flooding the multiplexes all over the world, introducing audiences to classic comic book and pulp heroes and sometimes re-introducing them all over again in one reboot after another.

And while the silver screen has been kind to the likes of Batman, Superman and the X-Men, the same cannot always be said of their villains. Some of the best supervillains in comic book history still haven’t made a single appearance in a theatrically released motion picture, and that’s not even counting the all-time great bad guys who did show up on camera and were totally ruined by the Hollywood studio system. (We’ve had three Doctor Dooms already, and every single one of them has basically sucked.)

With Suicide Squad coming out this weekend, and finally giving some of DC’s best supervillains their shot at the limelight, we thought now would be a good time to shed some light on the best supervillains who are still waiting for their title bout. Comic book fans know and love these characters already, and fans of television may already be familiar a few of them, but for whatever reason Hollywood hasn’t let them loose in theaters yet. Hopefully that will change in the future.
