Dwayne Johnson Reveals ‘Furious 8’ Plot Point on Instagram

When Agent Hobbs showed up in Fast Five, played by Dwayne Johnson, the series finally took off in earnest. What had been a reasonably successful series of car racing movies had finally transformed into a globetrotting action franchise of the highest order, with one muscular action hero now tasked with chasing down all the other muscular action heroes. And since that film, Agent Hobbs has had a tricky relationship with the criminals who headline the Fast and Furious franchise. It was only a matter of time before he paid the price.

And yes, Agent Hobbs wound up in the hospital in Furious 7, but it appears he’s destined for even more harsh times in the upcoming sequel Furious 8. Dwayne Johnson has revealed on his Instagram account that his character will wind up in the opposite side of the law: stuck inside of a prison instead of putting bad guys in there.

It’s probably not a spoiler, since Dwayne Johnson is telling the whole world about it nine months before Furious 8 comes out, but it does get us thinking. Is this one of those times when the Fast and Furious team get themselves caught on purpose to pull off a heist? Or is Agent Hobbs finally being taken to task for allying himself with a group of criminals?

We’ll find out for sure when Furious 8 comes out on April 14, 2017.
