Crash Bandicoot, What Have They Done To You?

Crash Bandicoot made his return during the Sony E3 2016 press conference, with the company announcing that they are working alongside Activision to bring Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot: Warped to the PS4, remastered “from the ground up” for the console.

However, Sony also announced that Crash would be making his way to Skylanders Imaginators, and he looks terrifying. Ever since I saw those old live-action Crash Bandicoot commercials in which a man dressed as the Sony mascot taunts Nintendo, there’s always been something vaguely scary about the platforming hero. However, his Skylanders makeover is truly horrifying, offering an indication of what the madcap marsupial would look like when rendered in current-gen visuals.

Though it’s uncertain what Crash Bandicoot will look like in the remastered versions of his platforming trilogy, I personally hope he more closely resembles his original incarnation rather than whatever this Skylanders monstrosity is. Unfortunately, with no screenshots or gameplay footage shown from these remasters, we’ll have to wait and see what Activision have up their sleeves.

A new Crash Bandicoot game has been heavily requested over the years, and while that wasn’t announced during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference, this is at least an indication for Crash fans that the company is looking at the franchise once again. Perhaps they’ll decide to release a brand new Crash Bandicoot game depending upon the sales of these remasters?
