Clare Crawley Claims ‘Bachelorette’ Exit Was a Setup

The Bachelorette alum Clare Crawley suspects that her early exit from the show may have been part of the producers’ plans all along. The reality star, 45, appeared in Season 16 of the ABC series, which premiered on October 13, 2020. However, her journey took an unexpected turn when she fell for Dale Moss and accepted his proposal. The couple subsequently left the show together, and producers then introduced Tayshia Adams as her replacement.

Clare Crawley says producers planned her departure

In the October 27 episode of the She’s All Bach podcast, Clare discussed what she believes may have happened behind the scenes of The Bachelorette. When host Stefanie Parker asked, “Do you think they were planning for you to leave and to swap Tayshia in before any of it actually happened?” Clare responded by saying, “One-hundred percent. Noah [Erb] was there. That’s my feeling.”

She said, “I could go on, but there were so many things where I was like, ‘What is going on here?’ At the time, it didn’t make sense to me and didn’t add up to me.” Stefanie then asked whether she felt forced to leave the show, and Clare confirmed that she did.

“And I’m not saying this as a surprise to anybody, or that’s like a behind-the-scenes. There’s literally video of me with Chris Harrison, and he’s like, ‘You can’t go on.’ And I don’t know if they aired this part, but the conversation was, ‘I want to see this through to the end. I know what I signed up for. I’m here. I have a great group of guys.'” She added, “I did not have a choice to stay.”

Clare explained why she thinks the production team may have wanted Tayshia to step in as the lead. She believed the production team found her difficult to work with and may have preferred Tayshia as the lead. While she praised Tayshia for being a great Bachelorette and making good television, Clare said she could only show up as herself and give it her all.

Clare’s romance with Dale did not work out after the pair left The Bachelorette engaged. She later found love with Ryan Dawkins, and the two got married in February 2023. The couple shares a two-year-old daughter, Rowen.
