Savannah Chrisley’s Future Husband Comes With Very Expensive Past

Savannah Chrisley’s fiancé, Jason Galanis, carries a costly legal history into their relationship, including a fraud conviction and more than $100 million in liabilities. His 2018 divorce revealed how former wife Monet Berger sought financial protection from debts linked to his crimes.

Berger’s legal team argued she knew nothing about Galanis’ schemes and suffered as a victim herself. The divorce judgment ultimately assigned his financial obligations to him, adding another revealing detail to the story behind Chrisley’s engagement.

According to TMZ, Berger’s lawyers argued she never participated in Galanis’ crimes. They also said she applied for and received money from the Victim’s Defense Fund, which compensated people harmed by his fraud. Her legal team presented the payment as evidence of her position among those affected by his conduct.

Berger also asked the court to place every debt and liability on Galanis, including court-ordered restitution. The final divorce judgment granted that request and assigned those obligations solely to him. The couple ended their roughly decade-long marriage in 2018. At the time, Galanis faced more than $100 million in liabilities, including restitution, forfeitures, and taxes.

His past now overlaps with a new chapter involving Chrisley. The couple planned to marry and were expecting a baby, according to the report. Their relationship also began during a turbulent period for her family.

Galanis served prison time alongside Chrisley’s father, Todd Chrisley. President Donald Trump commuted Galanis’ sentence a couple of months before he granted similar relief to Savannah’s parents. Savannah said she connected with Galanis while working in political circles to secure pardons for her parents.

The divorce settlement separated Berger from the financial obligations tied to Galanis’ conviction. It also left him responsible for the liabilities outlined in the judgment. His former wife’s legal claims, meanwhile, painted a picture of someone who said she had no knowledge of his schemes.
