Former Power Rangers actor Phillip Andrew, 48, was hospitalized and underwent emergency surgery after suffering a brain injury. Andrew portrayed Merrick Baliton, better known as the Lunar Wolf Ranger, in the 2002 series Power Rangers Wild Force.
Phillip Andrew shows encouraging signs after emergency brain surgery
Christian Ingram of Heroic Talent & Appearances announced the news in a statement posted to Instagram on October 27. The statement read, “Phillip suffered a serious brain injury that required emergency surgery. We are grateful to share that Phillip is now awake and showing encouraging signs of improvement.”
“While this is a positive step forward, Phillip still has a long road ahead of him. We ask that fans, friends, and colleagues continue to keep him and his loved ones in their thoughts and prayers as he navigates this difficult time. We also kindly ask that everyone continue to respect Phillip and his family’s privacy as they focus on his health and recovery,” it further read.
Several Power Rangers co-stars took to the comments section to send Andrew their best wishes. Sasha Craig wrote, “Thank you for the update! Heal up fast, @phillipandrewofficial.” Jessica Rey, who played Alyssa Enrile alongside Andrew in Wild Force, commented, “Praise the Lord. Praying daily for you, brother.” Mighty Morphin Power Rangers star Karan Ashley showed her support by leaving three yellow heart emojis.
Andrew starred in 40 episodes of Power Rangers Wild Force, which ran for just one season. He seemingly stepped away from acting afterward, with his last known acting credit being a 2006 appearance as a mugger on the sitcom What I Like About You.
The latest development follows Ingram’s announcement nearly two weeks ago that Andrew had to cancel all upcoming appearances for the “foreseeable future.” While the reason for the cancellation remained undisclosed, Ingram said Andrew needed to step back from his commitments to focus on recovering.
