Paris Hilton Reportedly Snubbed Kim Kardashian 17 Times

Paris Hilton’s repeated interview cancellations reportedly left Kim Kardashian furious while her authorized biography took shape. The failed interviews also reopened questions about the complicated history between the reality stars, who once shared the spotlight.

Jonathan Van Meter, the journalist behind Citizen Kim, spent five years documenting Kardashian’s life, career, and family. Although Kardashian granted him extensive access, reaching Hilton proved unexpectedly difficult, turning a routine interview request into a surprisingly revealing subplot.

Kim Kardashian’s biographer says Paris Hilton canceled 17 interviews over four months

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Van Meter revealed that Hilton canceled 17 interviews over approximately four months. He wanted to include her perspective in his biography of Kardashian, but arranging a conversation became an exercise in patience. “I sent questions, connected with Paris’ assistant, and then the interview was canceled 17 times over about four months,” Van Meter told the publication.

Unlike other interview subjects, Hilton required him to coordinate through her publicist and assistant. Kardashian had helped connect Van Meter with people throughout her life, sometimes simply by sending a text. Hilton’s repeated cancellations eventually changed his priorities. “Eventually I thought the cancellations were more interesting than whatever she’d tell me,” he explained.

The biographer also revealed Kardashian’s reaction when he shared the news. “Kim was so mad when I told her,” he recalled. The experience appeared to revive lingering tensions between the former friends. “It seemed to stir up some ancient irritation between them. The creation turning on the creator,” Van Meter added.

Kardashian and Hilton had a long history before Keeping Up With the Kardashians made the former a household name. They moved in the same social circles during the 2000s, when Kardashian appeared alongside Hilton and worked as her closet organizer.

Their relationship later evolved as Kardashian built her own celebrity and business empire. Van Meter’s account suggested Hilton’s absence from Citizen Kim carried significance beyond a missing interview, although he did not establish why she repeatedly canceled. The biography explored Kardashian’s rise, her family dynamics and the public scrutiny surrounding her career.

Kardashian also reviewed the manuscript for factual accuracy, according to Van Meter, and ultimately accepted nearly all the material she initially questioned. Hilton’s perspective, however, never made it into the book. Whether the cancellations reflected scheduling conflicts or deeper reservations remained unclear.
