Recently, the 73-year-old actress spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about her career, comeback, and several other topics. During the conversation, Roseanne Barr also questioned why Elon Musk hadn’t responded to her attempts to reach out.
They asked Barr about reaching out to the Tesla owner for a project, and she said, “I don’t know why he hasn’t called me or returned my calls. I mean, of all people on earth, I’m the one he should call, but I don’t know.”
For context, the Salt Lake City-born actress reached out to the world’s richest man for help with her new sitcom, Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable. She-Devil star secretly filmed the eight-episode series using funding from private investors. She is now looking for a distributor or streaming platform to release the show and hoped Elon Musk might be able to help through X.
Back in 2018, Home on the Range fame was fired from her hit show Roseanne following a controversial tweet. Since Musk had previously pledged to provide legal or financial assistance to people who lost their jobs over posts on X, Barr apparently believed he could be the right person to approach.
The upcoming sitcom Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable revolves around a family of doomsday preppers in Texas who take precautions against a possible catastrophe or the end of civilization. The ensemble features Roseanne Barr as Rose, the family’s grandmother; Randy Quaid as her husband, Sheriff Marshal; Drea de Matteo as her daughter; Omar Gooding as her son-in-law, Berry; and Jon Lovitz in a supporting role.
