During an appearance on the Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso podcast, Jason Sudeikis addressed what the media got wrong about his Olivia Wilde breakup. His answer was broad: “a million little things.”
Sudeikis explained that coverage often turned deeply personal situations into binary stories about right and wrong. However, he believes relationships are “more complicated, more human than that.”
As Just Jared noted, Sudeikis also said the experience gave him more empathy for other people facing intense public scrutiny. He added that he would not wish that level of attention on anyone.
The former couple began dating in 2011 and ended their relationship in 2020 after nearly a decade together. They share two children, Otis and Daisy. After the split, their personal lives attracted significant attention, including Wilde’s later relationship with Harry Styles and the former couple’s custody dispute.
More recently, Wilde discussed the end of their relationship publicly. In June, sources close to Sudeikis reportedly pushed back on her version of their breakup, arguing that important context was missing from the story.
Still, Sudeikis did not use his latest interview to attack Olivia Wilde. Instead, he praised her work as an actor and filmmaker. He said Wilde has always been talented at what she does and expressed happiness about her professional success.
Sudeikis also reflected on his own role in the relationship. In the same podcast conversation, he admitted he could have communicated his feelings more clearly before the breakup.
