The actress recently spoke with People and reflected on her career. During the conversation, Pamela Anderson explained why she rejects Hollywood’s beauty standards as she continues her makeup-free journey. Her decision is connected to the death of her longtime makeup artist, Alexis Vogel.
Anderson said, “She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup.”
Before pointing out the main reason, she also said, “When I think about beauty, I think of ancient beauty,” according to the actress, the beauty now is “so tailor-made to what’s being fed to us.”
“I really put the blinders on for what’s going on around me, and what do I love? What do I want to do? It’s not necessarily about being pretty. Beauty, I think, is more of an inner radiance,” the actress added.
Later, she concluded, “I will not be told what beautiful is. I have my own version of beauty, and it’s ageless. And it’s not comparative to other people.”
59-year-old went on to tell People that going against trends and skipping makeup makes her feel a little “rebellious.” She prefers to feel comfortable and wear whatever she wants.
Anderson said, “With stylists and glam teams and all these kinds of things, they all have their ideas and their mood boards. I want to get my own mood board. I am my own mood board. So I think this is all very much connected.”
Pamela Anderson hasn’t always gone without makeup, but she embraced a no-makeup lifestyle in 2023. Since then, she has often appeared barefaced at major public events, including Paris Fashion Week.
