Ellen DeGeneres misses television and is considering new projects in the UK. Four years after ending her daytime talk show, the comedian has hinted that she may not be finished with television.
DeGeneres, 68, moved to Britain with her wife, Portia de Rossi, in 2024. Her departure from Hollywood followed a workplace scandal that damaged her public image. Now, she appears interested in finding new opportunities across the Atlantic.

During The Graham Norton Show on Friday, DeGeneres admitted, “I’ve nothing really going on and I really miss being on TV.” She missed “laughing with the writers and the audience” and added, “I think about doing stuff here.” She also joked about Britain’s television offerings. “I think it is pretty easy to get on TV here,” she said. She pointed to pottery and sewing programmes, along with Gogglebox, which follows people watching television.
DeGeneres ended The Ellen DeGeneres Show on May 26, 2022, after 19 seasons. In 2020, 10 former employees alleged that the production fostered a toxic workplace marked by “racism, fear, and intimidation.” They also accused the show of failing to address allegations of sexual harassment against female employees.
DeGeneres apologised to staff after WarnerMedia investigated the claims. Producers Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman and Jonathan Norman subsequently left the show. In 2021, DeGeneres said the allegations had broken her heart. The controversy followed an earlier period of backlash. In 1997, DeGeneres came out publicly, and her sitcom Ellen featured her character doing the same. The storyline drew criticism in the United States, but London audiences later embraced her.
“In the U.S., they were not very thrilled about my character or me coming out, so for it to be celebrated in London was such an honor,” she said on Norton’s show. DeGeneres discussed her plans again in a July 2025 BBC interview. “I want to have fun, I want to do something,” she said, adding that she felt “a little bit bored” despite enjoying life with her chickens. In April 2026, she also announced plans to reprise Dory in a new Finding Nemo short. She has yet to confirm a television comeback.
