Cher still enjoys hitting the slopes decades after her ex-husband Sonny Bono died in a skiing accident. The 80-year-old singer recently revealed that skiing remains one of her favorite winter activities, especially during trips to Aspen.
Cher also shared that her children, Chaz Bono and Elijah Blue Allman, ski as well. Rather than planning elaborate winter getaways, the music icon prefers spontaneous trips with family and close friends.
Cher says she still loves skiing in Aspen nearly 29 years after Sonny Bono died in a skiing accident
Speaking to British Vogue, Cher opened up about how she spends the winter months. The singer said she enjoys being around family and friends and often heads to Aspen.
“Yeah, I ski — my kids ski,” Cher said when asked whether she still takes part in the winter sport.
She later added, “I love skiing in Aspen.”
Cher explained that she does not usually plan her trips far in advance. Instead, she described herself as a “spur-of-the-moment kind of person.” She often spends time with longtime friends Richard and Laurie Stark, the founders of Chrome Hearts, as well as her children.
The comments come nearly 29 years after Sonny Bono died in a skiing accident in January 1998. Bono, who had previously performed alongside Cher as part of Sonny & Cher, died after crashing into a tree while skiing near Lake Tahoe, California.
Cher and Bono shared son Chaz Bono. The former couple married in the 1960s before divorcing in 1975. Cher later welcomed son Elijah Blue Allman with her second husband, Gregg Allman.

Her love of skiing now remains part of the quieter side of her life away from performing. At 80, Cher appears happy to keep returning to the slopes whenever the mood strikes.
