Craig Conover is raising concerns about the complicated relationship between Austen Kroll and Salley Carson. The Southern Charm star questioned whether their current dynamic was healthy or sustainable. His comments come as the pair prepare to navigate another season together.
Craig Conover says Austen Kroll and Salley Carson’s relationship is not healthy
Craig shared his thoughts during the October 13 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. He explained that much had changed while he was filming Peacock’s The Traitors in Scotland. “Look, I love both of them. I don’t think it’s healthy what they’re doing,” he said.
Craig suggested Austen and Salley had begun moving backwards. He described their dynamic as “almost regressing” after spending time apart. According to Craig, their connection might be preventing both of them from moving forward.
“I don’t think it’s a sustainable relationship,” Craig explained. He suggested their bond had become a “safety net” keeping them from moving forward. He also questioned whether their current arrangement could work long-term.
Craig warned that their ambiguous status could complicate future relationships with other people. Potential partners might struggle to accept their existing closeness. “If they try to date other people, no one’s gonna be OK with their relationship now,” he said.
He also encouraged the pair to make a clearer decision about their connection. “Either date or don’t date, but this middle-ground thing is, I think, not healthy,” Craig added. His comments highlighted the uncertainty surrounding their relationship.
Austen and Salley grew closer during Southern Charm Season 11, following Austen’s split from Audrey Pratt. However, Austen previously insisted their connection was not particularly serious. During a March appearance on Watch What Happens Live, he described them as “really good friends.”
Salley, meanwhile, openly acknowledged her attraction to Austen. During a February appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, she admitted, “I was just being honest. Can you blame a girl?”
The pair has reportedly established some boundaries. Salley also said she liked where things stood between them. Southern Charm Season 12 premieres November 12 on Bravo, potentially offering further insight into their evolving relationship.
