Soulja Boy surprised followers by revealing that he was considering a possible run for president in 2028.
The rapper shared the idea on Instagram, where he posted “SOULJA BOY 2028” and outlined several issues he would focus on if he moved from music and business into public service. However, he stopped short of officially announcing a presidential campaign.
Soulja Boy is exploring a possible presidential run in 2028
Soulja Boy said he was considering bringing the approach he had taken to music, business, and technology into politics.
“From music to business to technology, I’ve always believed in thinking bigger and challenging what’s possible,” he wrote.
The “Crank That” rapper identified four areas that interested him: economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, education, and the future of technology and artificial intelligence.
Despite teasing a path toward the White House, Soulja Boy had not formally declared his candidacy. He also did not identify a political party he would represent in a potential 2028 presidential campaign.
According to TMZ, the possibility would not mark his first connection to presidential politics.
Soulja Boy performed at the Crypto Ball during Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration festivities. He later responded to criticism over the appearance by pointing to the money he received for performing.
His latest statement also recalled an earlier joke about his political future.
In 2019, Saturday Night Live featured Chris Redd portraying Soulja Boy in a sketch inspired by the rapper’s viral The Breakfast Club interview. The segment included a joke about Soulja Boy running for president years before he publicly floated the idea himself.
Other rappers have also explored presidential politics. Kanye West launched a presidential campaign in 2020.
For now, Soulja Boy has only said he is exploring the possibility of entering public service. The supplied source did not indicate that he had filed paperwork, launched a campaign, or taken other formal steps toward running for office.
